Agarose Condalab is a linear polysaccharide that is a component of agar, similar to amylose, which is part of starch. Agarose gel used for electrophoresis and immunodiffusion does not contain residual sulfogroups originally contained in agar. They are eliminated in order to exclude electroosmosis during foresis. On the contrary, certain groups are added to low-melting agarose in order to correct the physical properties of the substance.
